National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has recalled an incident during Peter Obi’s tenure as Anambra State governor, highlighting gaps in the use of ambulances purchased for resident doctors and government clinics at the time.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV from 4:11, Tanko explained that Obi had procured ambulances for public health facilities, launching the service with the promise that emergency response would reach patients within 15 minutes of being called.
“When they talk about the issue of doctors, the story was this: He (Peter Obi) purchased ambulances for resident doctors and government clinics. That’s when he was a governor. And when these ambulances were there, a chief in his kingdom was called that his wife was sick. Apparently, he lost the wife. And while they were there, there was a launch he did about the ambulances. And when he launched the ambulances, they were telling you that within 15 minutes when you call, the ambulances were there,” Tanko recounted.
According to him, the tragic twist was that during the chief’s family emergency, none of the government ambulances arrived as promised. “When this situation happened, none of them were there. So he called only a private clinic and all,” Tanko said
