The Labour Party spokesperson for the 2023 presidential election, Kenneth Okonkwo, has described Governor Siminalayi Fubara as one of the most troubled successors of a former governor in Nigeria.
In an interview shared by Symfoni, Okonkwo alleged that former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, had previously vowed not to interfere in his successor’s administration. However, he claims Wike’s actions contradict this promise.
“Wike vowed that once he left office, he would leave his successor in peace, and wouldn’t disturb him. His successor (Siminalayi Fubara) is the most disturbed successor in Nigeria,” Kenneth Okonkwo said.
Recall that since Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, fell out with Nyesom Wike, the state has been experiencing a political crisis.
Okonkwo further criticized Nyesom Wike over recent statements he has made about former Rivers State governor, Peter Odili. According to him, Wike had pledged never to say or do anything that might upset Odili but has since made remarks that have angered Odili’s supporters.
He said, “I saw him vowing that he will never say anything against Odili that will make him cry. The things he is saying about Odili are even making Odili’s followers scream.”
