In a recent video on YouTube from 01:04, Renowned cleric Prophet Joshua Iginla has expressed deep concern over what he describes as growing injustice and erosion of confidence in Nigeria’s judicial system. Speaking during a recent address, Iginla questioned how the nation reached what he called a “troubling level” of institutional imbalance.
“How did we come to this level?” he asked. “It is when there is no justice, no equity, no fairness, when there is imbalance in the three tiers of government.” He argued that the absence of key democratic pillars has weakened public trust.
Iginla lamented the alleged lack of autonomy within the judiciary, warning that judges can no longer operate independently. “When our judges can no longer pass judgment without interference, without manipulation, without political pressure, or without financial inducement — that’s where we are,” he stated.
According to him, many Nigerians who once viewed the judiciary as the “last hope of man” are now losing faith in its credibility. Despite this, he maintained a belief in the country and in the existence of judges who remain upright. “Do I believe in Nigeria? I believe in Nigeria. Do I believe we have voracious, impartial judges? We have them,” he affirmed. “But it will take men with integrity to stand tall in the current condition of Nigeria today.”
Iginla refrained from blaming any specific judge but pointed to the recent judgment involving Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as an example of the controversy surrounding judicial decisions. “If you want to pass your judgment, pass,” he said. “But what is equity and justice? It is when we balance things, when we do things properly.”
He stressed that true justice requires fairness, independence, and courage, particularly in a climate where institutions face political and financial pressure. View, More,
