The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Atiku Isa, has revealed what drove his visit to detained Indigenous People of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at a correctional facility in Sokoto.

Speaking in an interview from 13:12 on SYMFONI TV, Isa said he remained resolute despite what he described as pushback from authorities. According to him, the move was rooted in his commitment to justice and fairness.

“I have made up my mind that I am going to see him; it is either I see him or you arrest me,” Isa said, recounting how he insisted on gaining access to the detained IPOB leader.

He explained that he approached the situation fully prepared for any outcome, including possible detention. Isa added that he travelled light, carrying only essential personal items in anticipation of what might happen.

According to Isa, the visit was intended to make a statement about standing firm despite institutional obstacles. He stressed that his action was not politically motivated but aimed at getting a firsthand account of Kanu’s condition and the circumstances of his detention.

Kanu, a controversial figure in Nigeria, has long been at the center of legal and political debates, with his detention attracting both local and international attention. While supporters continue to demand his release, authorities insist that due legal processes must be followed.

Isa maintained that direct engagement with key figures in such matters is vital for transparency and accountability. He argued that firsthand interaction helps reduce speculation and provides clearer insight into the issues.

The NANS president also noted that his actions were driven by broader concerns about justice and how detainees are treated. He emphasized that, regardless of political differences, every individual in custody deserves fair treatment and due process under the law. Read_More…
