A Lawyer in defence of Democracy and Human Rights, Kingdom Okere has recounted the events at the MKO Abiola Stadium yesterday where over 10 coastal buses transported hired thugs to disrupt the peaceful protest. He however stated that these thugs defected to join the protesters after receiving their payment of N2000 from their sponsors.

He narrated that the protest at the stadium remained peaceful until the arrival of these thugs, which caused the protesters to feel threatened and decided to move to the Eagle square. He identified how the FCT Police Commissioner demonstrated professionalism throughout the incident and worked diligently to de-escalate tensions and ensure that the protesters adhered to legal parameters.

He said in an interview with Arise TV From  8:58, ”While we were there at the MKO Abiola Stadium, more than 10 coastal buses convened these thugs to MKO Abiola stadium. They intended to come and attack the peaceful protesters. But unfortunately for them their plans backfired. The thugs that they hired to stop the protest joined us after collecting their N2000. Because they are also hungry, they are buying from the same market and they suffering from insecurity and poverty in this country.

So that was exactly what happened at the MKO Abiola stadium yesterday. The protest was confined at the stadium and it remained peaceful until those thugs came. It was when the thugs assembled together that the protesters felt threatened and decided that they should move to Eagle Square. The FCT Police Commissioner was too professional, he tried to calm down the situation to ensure that we protested within the ambit of the law while he was emphasizing on the need to obey the Court order.”….Sêe_Morē
