In a recent video on Arise Tv, Senator Natasha Akpoti has raised fresh allegations against the Senate President, claiming that his controversial nightclub remark was not a slip of the tongue but a reflection of his true mindset. According to her, he had previously made suggestive comments about ways to have fun during official trips, even boasting that he could create a party atmosphere anywhere—including in space.
Akpoti insists that his nightclub statement was deliberate, reinforcing a pattern of inappropriate remarks. However, the controversy escalated further on July 23, 2024, when she received a late-night call at 12:14 AM from the Leader of the House, Senator Michael Bamidele. She recounted how he initially checked on her well-being before making a startling admission—that if the Senate President were forced to step down due to the ongoing uproar, he too would be implicated.
Taken aback by the statement, Akpoti woke her husband and questioned whether she was being threatened. As the conversation continued, she claimed to have heard murmurs in the background and recognized the Senate President’s voice, suggesting that the call was on speakerphone. When she confronted Bamidele, he allegedly insisted that he was merely explaining the pressure the Senate President was facing. However, she responded by raising her voice, asserting that such a call at midnight felt like intimidation.
According to her, “Regarding the nightclub incident, I believe that was not a slip of the tongue. The Senate President has, on multiple occasions, suggested that there are various ways we could have fun when we travel, even mentioning that he could create a party-like atmosphere anywhere, including in space.”
“So, his nightclub comment was not accidental—it was a reflection of his true thoughts. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. The night before he apologized—actually, in the early hours of the morning of July 23, 2024—my phone rang at exactly 12:14 AM. The Leader of the House, Senator Michael Bamidele, called me and said, “Senator, how are you?” I replied, “I’m fine.”
“He then said, “You know, in the wake of all this uproar, if the Senate President goes down, I will go down too. I was taken aback and asked, “What do you mean, sir? At that point, I woke my husband up because he had fallen asleep earlier. I asked, “Are you calling me to threaten me?”
“I could hear murmurs in the background and recognized the Senate President’s voice, indicating that the call was on speakerphone. Senator Bamidele Opeyemi continued, “No, I’m just telling you that there’s a lot of pressure on the Senate President, and if things go south—if he resigns or something happens to him—I will also be held responsible. I started shouting, “You can’t call me at midnight and threaten me, sir!”
