According to The Nation, The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has issued a warning to former military leader, General AbdulSalami Abubakar, regarding his recent remarks about Nigeria’s economic difficulties, which he described as “getting out of control.”

Prof. Ishaq Akintola, the founder of MURIC, expressed concern over Abubakar’s choice of words, suggesting that they could spark unrest among the public. He acknowledged that the economic situation in Nigeria is challenging, but he urged Abubakar to convey this message more carefully, considering his experience as a former leader.

Akintola also took issue with Abubakar’s comments that seemed to encourage protests, reminding everyone of the turmoil caused by past demonstrations like the #EndBadGovernance movement. He advised Abubakar to share his advice with government officials instead, as he is a respected figure in the Nigerian Peace Committee.
