Chijioke Ihunwo, a prominent youth leader in Rivers State, has called on young people in the state to channel their energy towards productive political engagement rather than social media activism.

In a video clip released by Symfoni TV on their official YouTube channel, Ihunwo criticized youths who spend time debating legal and political matters online without actively participating in governance.

He emphasized that the current administration in Rivers State has prioritized young people in leadership roles, particularly at the local government level.

The words of Ihunwo in the clip read, “for those of our youths who are on social media calling themselves the magistrate high court judge and supreme court judge, I want to tell them to use that energy that they used in writing to look for something to do and also come to join Governor Fubara, who loves young people.

Speaking further about the history of politics in Rivers, he stated that, “let me tell Nigerians that since the history of Rivers State, this is the time when young people are local government chairmen. The other administrations love old men.

He further added that, “I want to challenge our youths that even the man that they are supporting cannot even nominate them a young person for an appointment. I stand to be challenged; mention anybody in Rivers State that is between 23 to 32 years old that has been given an appointment by Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and the answer is no.
