As Nigeria edges closer to the 2027 general elections, former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has made a bold promise to stabilize the nation within two years if elected. The declaration, highlighted in a post by Lere Olayinka, a prominent political figure and spokesperson to the FCT, Minister Nyesom Wike.
The post, shared on X today, features an image from Tribune Online with the caption: “2027: I’ll bring stability to Nigeria within two years in office – Obi.” Obi’s pledge draws on his past tenure as Anambra Governor from 2006 to 2010, where he is said to have navigated political turbulence, including an impeachment and subsequent reinstatement in 2007. “My experience in Anambra shows I can deliver stability even under challenging conditions,” Obi stated, according to another report by Tribune Online on June 30, 2025.
However, the promise has met with sharp criticism from Lere Olayinka who captioned his post, stating, “Person wey no fit bring stability to ordinary political party. Mtcheeeeew.”
