According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Seyi Olorunsola, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, has dismissed suggestions that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requires the political influence of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso to secure victory in Kano during the 2027 presidential election.

He explained that the ruling party has within its structure strong political figures capable of delivering overwhelming support for the President without relying on Kwankwaso’s network.

The former local government lawmaker, who now serves as a Senior Legislative Aide to Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin, stated this during an interaction with journalists in Kano on Sunday.

He emphasized that the APC remains solid in the state and is already working on strategies that would guarantee the party’s success in future elections.

Olorunsola also insisted that Kwankwaso, who currently leads the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), lacks the capacity to block President Tinubu’s chances in Kano or across the northern region in the next general election.

He said the APC is confident of its position and is not threatened by any move from the opposition.

As Convener of the Tinubu/Barau/Atah Movement, Olorunsola urged President Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, not to grant Kwankwaso unnecessary attention.

He maintained that the APC should focus on strengthening its internal structures rather than negotiating with political rivals who might have conflicting interests.

He explained that the movement he leads is working to project Barau Jibrin as the APC governorship candidate in Kano for the 2027 election, with Atah as his running mate.

According to him, this arrangement represents a balanced ticket that would unify stakeholders and consolidate the party’s dominance in the state.

Olorunsola alleged that Kwankwaso’s renewed interest in joining the APC is not in the party’s interest but rather a tactical move to destabilize the planned arrangement.

He argued that such a development could be aimed at smoothing the path for Governor Abba Yusuf’s re-election in 2027 under the NNPP platform.

He added that APC leaders in Kano remain committed to supporting President Tinubu and ensuring the party maintains its influence across the state and the northern region.

He noted that internal unity and strategic planning would remain key for the APC as the countdown to the 2027 general election continues.

According to him, “Kwankwaso’s push to join APC is a strategy to disrupt this arrangement and pave the way for Governor Abba Yusuf’s re-election. See, More, Here>>>
