The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has alleged that the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki brought the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo to him to seek for his support in the Edo election. He dismissed the allegation being made by the Edo PDP Chairman that he intends to use his cousin who is the INEC REC to manipulate the election.
He noted that his cousin was posted over a year ago by INEC to be the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo election. He expressed frustration and disappointment with the political landscape, stating that he had previously supported Obaseki and was insulted and betrayed as a result. He declared that he will not support any candidate in the state election, including Ighodalo.
He said in an interview with Channels TV From 0:34, ”The PDP Chairman is one of the people who have no character in politics. Let him challenge me on how he became Chairman of PDP in Edo State. I Wike funded his emergence to become Chairman of PDP in Edo state. So he is saying that I want to work against them now. When his governor Obaseki came to meet me when I was staying in West County, was he there?
When Obaseki brought Asue to me to support him, they didn’t know the REC is my cousin? It is just today that they now know that he is my cousin. He was posted as the Edo REC more than one year ago. You see this is what I don’t like in this country. When they came to me, I told them that I’m not going to support Ighodalo and neither am I going to support any candidate in the state. The last one that I supported, it never helped me and I was insulted up and down. After I supported Obaseki the last time, I became a stupid man.”….S££–MOR£
