The Nigerian Police Force recently reacted to the death of an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the hands of Internet fraudsters in Anambra state. In their statements which drew widespread attention from the general public, they pointed out that the suspect has been arrested and the firearm used was recovered.

The nation was thrown into mourning when the news regarding the death of an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC at the hands of Internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo Boys in Anambra State went viral across various social media platforms. In a twist of events, the officials who had gone to apprehend the cyber criminals met a violent resistance as they opened fire on them, killing one and injuring another.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Nigerian Police Force in a recent statement which was made available to the general public by news outlet, VANGUARD, made it known that the suspects have been apprehended and currently in their custody.

According to the Anambra State Police Command Spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, the firearm used by the Yahoo Boys was recovered and investigations were ongoing into the sad incident.

‘In his words’

“Investigation into the sad incident is ongoing. The suspect is in custody, and the firearm has been recovered. Further details shall be communicated, please.” He said.

The statements from the police however stirred mixed reactions from the general public as many condemned the death of the said official and called for justice to be served.
