Kabir Akingbolu, a legal practitioner and human rights lawyer, has commented on the political dispute in Rivers State where Governor Siminalayi Fubara is working with a faction of only three members of the Rivers House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.

In a live coverage by News Central TV from 5:11, Akingbolu compared this situation to an incident in Edo State, where Governor Godwin Obaseki governed with only 10 out of 24 assembly members. He said no actions were taken by other political leaders, including former President Buhari, to address the issue in Edo.

In Kabir’s words: “It happened in Edo. Governor Obaseki ruled for 4 years with 10 members out of 24-member House of Assembly. Buhari was looking, other political actors were looking and nothing happened.

“Those 14 members were only voted for but they didn’t step into that floor of the House for one minute. That time It happened and nobody challenged it, now it is happening again but somebody is challenging it in Rivers now”
