According to Daily Post Nigeria, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has expressed indifference to criticism from his detractors, stating that he is “dead and blind” to their opinions.
Speaking on Friday at the flag-off ceremony for the design, construction, and furnishing of the office annex for the Body of Benchers of Nigeria in Abuja, Wike emphasized that his attention remains solely on the development of the FCT.
Wike, a seasoned politician, addressed the ongoing criticisms he faces, remarking that as a politician, it is essential to develop “thick skin.”
He conveyed that he does not allow negative comments to distract him from his duties, reinforcing his focus on his responsibilities.
“The good thing about us, you know, as a politician, you must have thick skin. I have thick skin,” Wike stated during his speech.
He further explained his approach to political challenges, saying, “I don’t even hear what people say. I don’t even see those who are saying it, and I can’t reply.”
Wike outlined his philosophy on handling public scrutiny, noting three essential traits every politician must have: “One, he can’t see. Two, he can’t talk. Three, he can’t hear.”
According to the minister, these qualities enable him to remain undistracted by external opinions.
“Whatever they are saying, you don’t even hear. Those who are saying it, you don’t even see. And because I can’t talk, I cannot reply. I will go ahead and continue to do my work for the best of the country. That is all I can do,” Wike concluded.
