Iran has firmly stated that it will not plead with the United States to revive nùclear negotiations, according to a statement by the country’s foreign ministry spokesman on Monday. The announcement comes amidst rising tensions between Tehran and Washington, as the incoming administration of Donald Trump signals its intention to adopt a “maximum pressure” strategy on Iran.

Speaking to reporters, the spokesman underscored Iran’s determination to resist external pressures, asserting that the country will not compromise its sovereignty or national interests. “Iran will not beg the United States for nùclear negotiations,” he declared, emphasizing that Tehran remains open to dialogue but will not tolerate coercive tactics.

This declaration reflects Iran’s enduring stance on its nùclear program, which has been a point of contention since the U.S. withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018. Under the Trump administration, Washington implemented stringent economic sanctions aimed at curbing Iran’s nùclear ambitions, further straining bilateral relations.

The incoming administration has reiterated its commitment to intensifying the pressure campaign, potentially setting the stage for a prolonged standoff. Analysts suggest that this approach may complicate efforts to find a diplomatic rèsolution, particularly as Iran has accelerated its nùclear activities in response to U.S. sanctions.

Iranian officials have consistently criticized what they perceive as the United States’ unilateral and aggrèssive polìcies. They argue that such actions undermine international agreements and hinder regional stability.
