According to Punch report on the 22, March 2025, people from the Araromi-Ibese community in Ogun State recently staged a protest to draw attention to the growing insecurity caused by suspected herdsmen in their area. The protesters, who appeared deeply distressed, shared painful experiences of constant attacks and harassment.
One of the protesters recounted how she was forced to give birth in the bush while running for her life. She explained that her farmland was destroyed, and her harvest was taken away, leaving her with nothing.
She said, “I had to give birth to my child in the bush while running for my life. The Fulani people have destroyed my farmland, taken away all my farm products, and left me with nothing.”
Many others expressed similar fears, saying they no longer feel safe in their own homes. The women emphasized that the situation has worsened over time, with the attackers repeatedly targeting their community. They highlighted the urgent need for better security to protect their lives and livelihoods.
