Media personality and politician, Dele Momodu, has expressed confidence that Atiku Abubakar stands as the strongest contender ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview from 24:40 on News Central TV, Momodu said the 2023 election showed that Nigerian politics can produce surprising results. He pointed to the performance of Peter Obi in Lagos and Atiku’s victory in Osun State as examples of unexpected political outcomes.

According to him, Obi is expected to dominate support in the South-East if he contests again, while former President Goodluck Jonathan could perform strongly in the South-South if he decides to run. He also mentioned Seyi Makinde as a politician capable of taking a share of votes from the South-West.

Momodu, however, maintained that Atiku remains the only major northern candidate with strong national political influence. He said the former vice president has built loyal supporters over the years and could unite forces across the country.

He compared Atiku’s political journey to that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that Buhari contested several times before eventually winning in 2015 after forming alliances in the South. Momodu said he expects a similar political comeback in 2027.

In his words, “I believe this is his time, just like it happened to Buhari, Buhari kept trying, he gave up, then he was able to navigate his way into the South where he had the Tinubu at that time and he was able to win that election. I expect a repeat performance.”….Read_More…
