Nasir El-Rufai, who happens to be President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s former ally, on Monday evening revealed the discussion he had with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, shortly after his ministerial nomination was thwarted.

During an interview on Arise Television from 11:00, the former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, discussed his fallout with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He explained that before the 2023 presidential election, he supported Bola Ahmed Tinubu because of the successes he had as the governor of Lagos State. However, two years after Tinubu became president, El-Rufai said that the administration had not met expectations.

El-Rufai also talked about why he supported Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 election. He said that in Kaduna State, they all reached a consensus to back Tinubu because they believed he had the best chance of winning among all the southern candidates in the party.

He said, “We met at Baba Akande’s (Chief Bisi Akande) birthday anniversary last year, and the President asked me to come, and see him. We met, we discussed. He said let us find way to work together. I said ‘I’m waiting; you tell me how we can work together. I want to assure you that—as I told you even before the general elections, I’m fine.'”

Further talking, Nasir El-Rufai said, “I’ve a private life which predates politics, and I’m pursuing my life. Look at me, do I look like I’m stressed? I’ve put on weight, I sleep better, I do not have to read security report, or bandits’ attack here. I’m at peace.”
