The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has taken to her official X account to react after Dokun Olomofin stated that Nigerians coming home in December for holidays should be taxed the sum of $500.

Reacting, Abike Dabiri refused to welcome the suggestion. She noted that those coming into the country are actually boosting the economy and should not be taxed again.

She said taxing them would be counterproductive and also discourage many Nigerians who have the intention of visiting their country from doing so.

Abike Dabiri described the suggestion as something that will mitigate the efforts of NIDCOM in encouraging Nigerians in diaspora from visiting their home.

According to Abike Dabiri on her official X account;

“Our response to Chief Dokun Olomofin’s ‘advice’ that Nigerians in Diaspora coming home in December for holidays should be taxed 500 dollars! Coming to their country with friends for holiday, spend, boost the economy, boost our image!”.
