Senator Adams Oshiomhole has spoken out after a tense situation at the Lagos airport, where he was seen confronting airline staff over the treatment of passengers. He said his actions were not for personal gain but to defend regular Nigerians who were being unfairly treated by Air Peace.
In a video shared by Voice TV from 28:42, according to Oshiomhole, some passengers missed their flights through no fault of their own, yet the airline asked them to pay more to get on the next available flight. He explained that this is not how things are done in other countries. “Abroad, they simply move you to the next flight and may even give you a hotel if needed,” he said.
Oshiomhole said women, including one with a baby, were crying at the airport. “Unknown to them, I was recording it all,” he added. He said he planned to share the videos to expose the situation and let the public see what really happened.
The senator also explained that just because he is a public official doesn’t mean he should stay quiet when people are suffering. He rejected the idea that politicians should only care about themselves. “It’s not about me, I just refuse to do the usual thing that they thought some big men could do. They thought that if you sort me out, as the manager was ready to do, then I’ll keep quiet,” he said.
He said he sent a message to the Minister of Aviation to report what happened and called for better treatment of passengers. Oshiomhole reminded everyone that being a senator means standing for the people at all times, not just in the Senate chambers.
