The Convener of the League of Northern Democrats, Dr. Umar Ardo, in an interview with The Nigerian Tribune correspondent, spoke on the formation of the coalition to oust Tinubu, and a number of other national issues.

Revealing how he was instrumental to the formation of the All Progressives Congress, and the victory of late former president Muhammadu Buhari during the 20 15 presidential election, Ardo said that, if anyone could recall, on the 13th of April 2011, while concluding his presidential campaign under the CPC, Buhari had broken down in tears and declared that he would never contest again if he lost that election.

He continued that on the 16th, Nigerians went to the polls to elect a president, and on the 18th, Attahiru Jega announced Jonathan as the winner.

According to Ardo, based on Buhari’s statement on the 13th, that should have marked the end of his political ambition. However, he revealed that it was he who had approached Buhari, convinced him to reconsider, and provided him with the winning strategy for the 2015 election.

Further talking, he said, “It was I that sent him to Tinubu for an alliance in which Buhari was to be the president, and Tinubu the Vice-President.

“Tinubu made this public in his famous Abeokuta declaration where he stated that Buhari approached him, and offered him the vice-presidency.”

He said that Tinubu only knew that Buhari had approached him but was unaware of what had led to that move. He revealed that it was he who had sent Buhari to Tinubu and added that he had written a book on the subject.
