According to a report by The Times of Israel, previously undisclosed reports have now confirmed that Iranian ballistic missile strikes damaged a luxury residential tower and a major shopping mall near the IDF’s Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv during the recent 12-day war between Israel and Iran, according to revelations published by Haaretz and Channel 12.
The Haaretz daily reported that a 32-story residential building located close to the Kaplan Street entrance to the Kirya was hit early in the conflict. The missile strike ignited a fire within the building, forcing residents to evacuate. Details of the damage and exact impact location had been kept under a gag order until now, with Israeli authorities concerned that releasing such information could help Iran adjust its missile targeting in future attacks.
In a separate report, Channel 12 disclosed that the Azrieli Mall, one of Tel Aviv’s most prominent commercial landmarks and also situated near the Kirya, was struck by a ballistic missile. While the mall’s main structure remained intact, storefronts with direct street access sustained severe damage estimated at over a million shekels. Visible damage to parts of the mall’s facade could also be observed from outside.
The Channel 12 report added that in the days following the missile strike, looters exploited the chaos and the damaged state of the stores, stealing significant amounts of merchandise and cash.
These strikes occurred as part of Iran’s large-scale barrage on Israel during the 12-day confrontation, which marked the most direct conflict ever between the two nations. Over the course of the fighting, Iran launched more than 500 ballistic missiles into Israeli territory, resulting in the deaths of 28 people and injuring thousands.
The decision to lift the gag order comes weeks after the ceasefire that ended the hostilities. The disclosure highlights both the intensity of the missile attacks and the vulnerability of civilian sites located close to military installations in central Tel Aviv.
The newly revealed details also underline the scale of the damage caused by Iran’s missile assault on densely populated urban areas, raising renewed concerns about the risks faced by residents living near strategic military sites.
