According to a report by Times of Israel, Iran has issued a stern warning to Israel against any “new adventure” in Lebanon, following the deadly rocket attack that killed 12 children and teens in the Druze town of Majdal Shams in northern Israel.
In a statement released by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani, Iran cautioned that “Any ignorant action of the Zionist regime can lead to the broadening of the scope of instability, insecurity and war in the region.”
Kanaani added that Israel will be responsible for “the unforeseen consequences and reactions to such stupid behavior.”
The attack, carried out by Hezbollah using an Iranian-made Falaq-1 rocket with a warhead of over 50 kilograms (110 pounds) of explosives, has prompted a vow of retaliation from Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has said that Tehran-backed Hezbollah will “pay a heavy price” for the strike and has increased its readiness for “the next stage in the fighting in the north.”
The Falaq-1 rocket, which has a range of approximately 6.2 miles, is only possessed by Hezbollah among Iran’s proxies. IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that “forensic findings at the scene indicate this rocket, which is only found with Hezbollah.”
As tensions escalate, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon and the head of a UN peacekeeping force have called for “maximum restraint” from all sides. However, with Iran’s warning and Israel’s vow of retaliation, the region remains on edge, with the potential for the conflict to “engulf” the area in “catastrophe beyond belief.”….Seë _ Morë
