Chijioke Ihunwo, the chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, has reacted after former Governor Nyesom Wike criticized Governor Siminalayi Fubara for submitting the 2024 budget of Rivers State to just four members of the State House of Assembly.

In a video recently shared by Symfoni TV from 2:20, Ihunwo said that when Wike was governor in 2016 and Rt Hon Adams Dabotorudima was Speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly, the assembly only had seven members after a court ruling sacked about 20 lawmakers.

Ihunwo said despite the smaller number of lawmakers, Wike was able to present the state budget to them, and no one raised concerns at the time. He said Wike also had commissioners screened and sworn in during that period. He questioned why Wike was now criticizing Fubara for doing something similar.

In Ihunwo’s words: “When in 2016 Rt Hon Adams Dabotorudima was speaker of the house of state assembly we had 7 members in that assembly. About 20 others lost their seats in Appeal Court. Wike presented budget to 7 members. Did anybody cry? Wike also screened commissioners and swore them in, in this same state and nobody cried. Why is Wike now crying?
