Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has reaffirmed his focus on economic development rather than partisan politics during a visit to Zamfara State, where he announced plans to establish two major factories. Speaking during a meeting with Governor Dauda Lawal and state officials, Kalu stated clearly, “I’m not a politician; I’m a businessman. I came here to establish two industries.”
The visit, broadcast on Channels TV, saw Kalu speak passionately about his mission to expand industrial infrastructure across Nigeria. He revealed that his companies will be setting up two new factories in Zamfara—one focused on food processing for export to India and China, and the other for refining minerals such as gold and lithium sourced from the region.
“This has nothing to do with politics,” Kalu emphasized. “I’m investing here because I believe in the potential of Zamfara and in the leadership of Governor Lawal. The factories will provide jobs, build the local economy, and bring long-term value to the people.”
Kalu said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s call for industrialization across Nigeria and urged the Zamfara government to continue supporting federal economic policies regardless of political party differences.
He further disclosed that his team would soon commence feasibility studies, with construction expected to begin within the year. “Factories don’t have political affiliations,” he said. “This factory will stay long after we’re gone. That’s the legacy we should be building.”
The senator’s announcement was met with applause and optimism from local leaders and traditional rulers present at the event, with many expressing hope that the investment would help address unemployment and insecurity in the state.
