Darlington Orji, a political ally in Rivers State, has made it clear that he will follow Governor Siminalayi Fubara wherever he goes politically—even if it means joining the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking in an interview with News Central TV from 21.30, Orji addressed the growing rumors that Fubara might switch from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

Orji explained that while no such decision has been made yet, he trusts Fubara’s leadership. “Politics is about the people’s interest,” he said. “A political party is just a platform to achieve what is best for the people.”

He stressed that he hasn’t received any official information about Fubara joining APC. However, he said he’s ready to support the move if the governor believes it’s the right step for Rivers State. “I’m an unrepentant follower of His Excellency. If he decides APC is the best place for our state, I’ll join him, and I believe that the stakeholders and the men and women of Rivers people of goodwill will join,” Orji added.

He also urged the public not to rely on rumors or body language, but to wait for Fubara to speak directly. Orji believes that if switching parties would help connect Rivers State to the federal government and bring more development, then it’s worth considering.

For now, he insists, it’s all just speculation. But if the time comes, “so let us await Fubara to call us and speak to us, then we can speak authoritatively and quote him,” Orji said.
