Former Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba, has spoken against the police contributory pension scheme, saying it has failed to meet the needs of retired officers.

In a video shared by ESET TV, Baba said the current Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, does not have deep experience in police administration because most of his service has been in field operations. He said that Egbetokun once supported the contributory pension system, even though many people raised strong concerns about it at the time.

Baba said he has never discussed this matter personally with Egbetokun, and Egbetokun has also never approached him for advice.
