The Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during an interview with Symfoni TV shared his thoughts on the challenges facing the Nigerian economy.

Recall how some Nigerians took to the streets to voice their complaints over rising inflation and commodity prices, which they claimed were caused by the current administration, led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, eliminating the fuel subsidy.

However, Peter Obi, the flagbearer for the Labour Party, said in a video that if a subsidy is being eliminated, a substitute should be implemented. He stressed that the money raised from the elimination of subsidies needs to go towards funding the hospital and education systems, among other areas.

According to the video, “There must be a replacement; if you say you are denying us lunch, what are we getting in return for starving?” Peter Obi was quoted as saying via Symfoni TV.
