Prof. Tukur Muhammad Baba, the National Publicity Secretary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has stated that the North has the potential to unite along shared social and geographical factors, despite external political perceptions.
In an interview with NIGERIAN TRIBUNE on Sunday, October 19, 2025, Prof. Baba said the North possesses a unique ability to communicate and travel across its vast region without the need to reinvent new routes. He emphasized that this connectivity is a strength that can foster unity and mutual benefit among Northern groups.
He noted that in the South, Northerners are often politically labeled as Fulani, simply based on language, without understanding the deeper social geography that binds the region. According to him, this oversimplification ignores the diversity and complexity of Northern Nigeria.
In Baba’s words,
“If you go to the South, for political reasons, everyone is a Fulani. Why? This is because they are looking at the Northerners from the angle of language. But it goes beyond that, not knowing that the virtue of social geography is what connects the people of the region.” See, More, Here>>>
