In a live coverage by Arise TV from 19:55, Umar Sani, a member of the PDP in Rivers State, stated that if Governor Sim Fubara were to call a meeting and invite the Ijaw people for support, the turnout would be significantly larger than that of the group that recently organized an event in Wike’s honor in Rivers State

The context of Sani’s statement comes after a group claiming to represent the Ijaw community organized an event in Port Harcourt to honor Wike. The event was attended by figures like Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources

Sani also said those who organized the event in Wike’s honor don’t speak for the Ijaw nation.

In Sani’s words: “If Fubara calls his ethnic nationality the Ijaw people and say I am holding a meeting please come and support me, you will see the turnout. The turnout will be 10 times greater than the turnout of people who came to honor Wike”
