In an interview with TVC, Olisa Agbakoba, the lawyer representing Senate President Godswill Akpabio, issued a stern response to suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual misconduct allegations against his client.
Speaking on the ongoing controversy, Agbakoba emphasized that the allegations were “false, damaging, and politically motivated,” and called on Natasha to retract them publicly. He confirmed that a formal demand had been made for her to withdraw the statement.
“I will not tell Natasha how to retract the case, but if she refuse we have a choice and the choice is to proceed to court,” Agbakoba stated during the televised interview.
The legal counsel maintained that while Senator Akpabio is open to resolving the matter amicably, the option of pursuing legal redress remains firmly on the table if no retraction is made. He also dismissed any claims that the Senate President was attempting to silence critics, saying the focus was solely on restoring his reputation through due process.
The allegations by Akpoti-Uduaghan have sparked heated debate in political and public circles, prompting calls for further investigation. However, Akpabio’s legal team appears resolute in its stance, signaling that court proceedings may soon follow if a resolution is not reached.
