Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, shared a personal memory of meeting the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, recounting how he shook his hand four times. He expressed regret that there was no GSM at the time to capture those moments.

He described his first visit to Awolowo’s house at No. 4 Park Lane Apapa, where he went as a bank worker to sell foreign exchange. Awolowo shook his hand and kept his eyes on him throughout the transaction, leaving Nwanyanwu shivering with nervousness

He said in an interview with Symfoni 7:10, “I shook Awolowo four times in my life. I was small, that’s why I’m crying. Why was there no GSM then? If you had seen my clothes, you would have seen the badge for shaking him four times.
