Senator Elisha Abbo, a former federal lawmaker, has spoken about the challenges he faced after becoming a senator.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV from 11:23, Abbo said before he took office, he was constructing a 23-bedroom mansion with nine parlors and a swimming pool in Mubi, Adamawa State. He said after becoming a senator, he stopped the construction to focus on helping others.
Abbo said that once he became a senator, he took on the burdens of others, particularly orphans and vulnerable people in his community. He said their struggles became his own, and he felt a deep responsibility to support them. He described how seeing the difficult conditions some people live in often moved him to tears.
In Abbo’s words: “I was building a mansion with 23 bedrooms, 9 parlours and a swimming pool in the heart of Mubi, when I became a senator I stopped it. I took over carrying people’s burdens: orphans and vulnerable people. Their problems became my problems and sometimes when I see them I weep. The conditions some human beings are living in, and you remember that God put this weight on your back”.
