Jude Abaga, a musician popularly known as M.I has stated that he did not support former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election because of how the government handled the kidnapping of the Chibok schoolgirls. He explained that the incident left him deeply disappointed and he felt the presidency had made a mistake that could not be forgiven.

In an interview with The Podcast Network from 49:10, M.I said the situation made him believe that the country needed a change in leadership. He said as a young man, he had heard many stories about Muhammadu Buhari and his reputation for integrity and his strong stance against corruption. He said because of this, he felt Buhari was the right choice at that time.

In M.I’s words: “I was also emotionally against the Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency, the reason why I was against it was because of BringBackOurGirls. I felt that they presidency had done something that was unpardonable at the time. This is my feelings and that we were ready for change”
