During one of his sermons, Pastor Enoch Adeboye shared an encounter that took place years ago at the University of Maiduguri—an experience that shook him to his very core and left him with a lesson he would never forget.

In the recent video from 0:26, He recalled arriving at the campus, filled with zeal, ready to deliver a message of salvation to the students. As always, he preached with all his heart, pouring himself out in words of conviction and hope. In his spirit, he expected a great harvest that day, many souls rushing forward when the altar call was made. But to his shock, only six people responded.

For a man deeply burdened with the call of evangelism, the result felt almost like a failure. Back in his room afterward, he was sad and deeply troubled. In prayer, he cried out to God, asking why his message seemed to yield so little fruit. Then came the answer that surprised him: “Go and buy a Babariga cloth and wear it to the program.”

Reflecting on this experience, Pastor Adeboye said, “I preached in Maiduguri, six came out for altar call, I was sad. God said: buy Babariga.”

At first, he was confused. The instruction seemed strange. He had never thought about his outfit in relation to the word of salvation he preached. Clothing, in his mind, had nothing to do with the gospel that transforms lives. Why would God tell him to wear a particular type of attire? Yet the message was clear, and he obeyed.

God further explained to him that the six who came out at the altar call were the only ones inside the hall who were not already saved. The rest were believers already walking in the faith. The next day, however, with his new Babariga outfit on, something remarkable happened. Many unfamiliar faces—students who had never attended the previous meetings—came into the program from outside. This time, when he made the altar call, the crowd that came forward was far greater than the day before.
