Former Chief of Defense Staff, General Martin Agwai, has shared his personal experience and connection to the tragic C-130 aircraft crash that occurred in 1992.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV from 21:50, he revealed that he lost 28 of his men in the crash, who were part of his division, known as B Division, based in Jaji.

General Agwai mentioned that he was originally supposed to be on that ill-fated flight, emphasizing how providence played a role in sparing his life. He disclosed that he was appointed as the chairman of the group responsible for coordinating the recovery of the bodies and arranging the funeral ceremony.

In General Agwai’s words: “They were part of my students in my division called B division in Jaji. I lost 28 of them in that plane crash, the C-130. Let me also tell you it is only providence, I was supposed to be in that aircraft so I know almost everything about it. Those were the first people to be buried at the cemetery, I was the chairman of the group that arranged for the recovery of the body, and the funeral that took place. I was still the chairman that got all the properties of those officers to their family”
