In a year-end thanksgiving gathering in Ahoada-East, Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, the former Governor and now Federal Capital Territory Minister, shared insights about his key role in the removal of Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike highlighted the values of integrity and commitment, praising attendees for embodying these principles. He criticized Secondus, asserting that Secondus’ move to name his cousin, Tele Ikuru, as Governor had caused a rift between them.

Wike explained that his action to unseat Secondus stemmed from the need to prioritize the party’s welfare over personal connections. This revelation sheds light on the ongoing power struggles within the PDP, as historical relationships face challenges from current political dynamics.

According to The Guardian, Wike said, “I kicked out Secondus as PDP chairman of the party when he wanted to make his cousin Tele Ikuru to be Governor. Today, he is saying now that we are enemies. He was the one who refused the man to be Governor, he wanted his cousin to be Governor. He has now become the governor’s friend and we have now become the enemies. To God be the glory.”
