Former Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed has supported FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s efforts to prevent cattle from grazing in Abuja’s green spaces through strategic fencing.

During an interview with Arise TV, Baba-Ahmed revealed he had received information about ongoing developments in the Federal Capital Territory regarding cattle grazing restrictions. “I heard something going on in the FCT. Do you see that beautification he’s doing with the fence, fences? They said it is to stop the cows from grazing,” Baba-Ahmed said, explaining the purpose behind Wike’s fencing initiatives.

The former VP candidate stated that Wike’s administration is systematically blocking access to green areas previously used for cattle grazing. “He’s blocking off all the green areas from the cows to graze,” he noted.

Baba-Ahmed expressed his agreement with the policy, emphasizing the need to maintain Abuja’s status as a clean federal capital. “And if you ask me, I agree with him. I mean in a federal capital like Abuja—that you want to keep clean; you don’t need to see grazing in here,” he said.

Datti also provided further justification for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s grievances against the PDP, tracing the conflict to events at the 2022 party convention. He explained that Wike experienced what he perceived as betrayal from his close friend and former Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, who chose to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during the PDP presidential primary.

He noted that given Wike’s established relationships with both Atiku and Tambuwal, the FCT Minister likely felt deeply betrayed by this turn of events. According to his analysis, this sense of betrayal motivated Wike’s subsequent actions aimed at undermining the party structure.
