Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, a former vice presidential candidate, has made it clear that he never called President Bola Tinubu a terrorist or Vice President Kashim Shettima a bandit. He said this during an interview with Trust TV, after the host mistakenly suggested that he had made such strong accusations.
During the conversation, Ahmed expressed concern about the growing insecurity in Nigeria, especially after about 200 people were killed in Benue State. He asked why similar killings in other places like Kebbi and Plateau are being overlooked, calling it a very serious situation.
When the host tried to suggest that Ahmed called government officials “bandits and terrorists,” Ahmed quickly corrected him. “You are putting words in my mouth and that is not fair,” he said. He explained that he was referring to those causing violence in the forests—people who are clearly bandits and terrorists. He added that anyone who claims Nigeria is safe after so many deaths is also part of the problem.
However, he made it clear that he never mentioned Tinubu or Shettima in that way. “Now I didn’t call Tinubu a terrorist, I didn’t call Shettima a bandit, don’t make me say that,” he said firmly.
