The Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi has challenged the Inspector General Of Police to provide an evidence that any PDP member was present during the incident that led to the death of a Police Inspector at Benin Airport. He attributed the violence at Benin Airport to APC Thugs.

He stated that a Vanguard Newspaper report from July 23rd identified the perpetrators as he denied any involvement by PDP members. He alleged that despite this, over 10 PDP members have been detained by the police for two weeks without trial, despite being innocent. He argued that the police should not rely on concocted stories, but rather focus on investigating and prosecuting those actually responsible for the violence.

He said in an interview with Arise TV From 5:44, ”The people that perpetrated that havoc at Benin Airport were clearly APC thugs. The Vanguard Newspaper on the 23rd of July published that faces of the people at the scene of the mayhem. It was not a PDP affair, that wasn’t our event it was an APC event. And unfortunately we lost a police officer and we sympathize and pray that his soul rest in perfect peace.

However after that incident, members of my political party have been attacked for a crime that they did not commit. As we speak more than 10 members of my party are in police custody without trial for the last two weeks. I challenge the IGP to show that any PDP member that he arrested was at the Benin Airport where this mayhem happened. This is not the Nigeria of 1979 where police can just concoct stories and people will buy into it. We are dealing with facts here.”….V¡ew · Next
