According to a report by The Nation on March 23, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and represents Nigeria’s Abia North Senatorial District, has asserted that he has no intentions of pursuing a presidential campaign. He reaffirmed his endorsement of President Tinubu for the upcoming 2027 election.
In a statement released by his media aide, George Maduka, Kalu stressed that there is no conflict within the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding its candidate for the 2027 presidential election. He encouraged Nigerians to focus on supporting President Bola Tinubu’s current economic reforms.
Kalu also urged opposition parties to concentrate on their own political agendas and refrain from involving him in their disputes.
The statement partly read, “He has publicly endorsed President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for re-election and he is committed to the required work needed.
“Kalu is a strong believer of Tinubu’s economic reforms . He knows that to sustain the reforms, there must be focus on long-term stability, inclusivity, and adaptability and the President needs the maximum eight years to achieve it.”
