In a Facebook video broadcast, Asari Dokubo, a prominent chieftain of the Kalabari people, voiced his displeasure over comparisons being drawn between Peter Obi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He expressed frustration at what he sees as an unfair juxtaposition, arguing that Peter Obi governed Anambra State for eight years with little to show for it, making any comparison with Tinubu, in his view, misplaced.

Dokubo went on to highlight what he described as the transformational impact of Tinubu’s tenure in Lagos State, stating that the state was fundamentally different before and after Tinubu’s time in office. He insisted that Peter Obi had no valid excuse for Anambra’s lack of significant progress, especially since his party, APGA, continued to govern the state even after his departure, leaving no room to blame an opposition takeover.

According to him, “Somebody was governor for 8 years, and he has nothing to show. How can anybody compare Peter Obi with Bola Tinubu? How? Go to Lagos, look at Lagos before 1999 and Lagos of today — he was there for 8 years; he left after 8 years. Since Peter Obi left Anambra, it is his party, APGA, that is ruling that state, so nobody will say different people took over.”
