The Labour Party (LP) has addressed the recent resignation of Kenneth Okonkwo from its 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, labeling the move as anticipated due to suspicions that Okonkwo was a “mole” aimed at causing internal strife, according to Vanguard. Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the LP, conveyed that Okonkwo’s departure was not surprising and criticized his subsequent attacks on the party’s leader, Peter Obi, as unfortunate and driven by a need for attention.
In a statement, Ifoh remarked, “His attack on the party’s leader, Peter Obi is rather unfortunate; however, we will continue not to dignify him with any response as we understand that his attention-craving attitude knows no bounds.”
The LP highlighted a pattern of similar resignations among former campaign officials, noting recent exits of key members who joined the APC. The party’s response underscores its commitment to standing by Peter Obi and its goal of a successful 2027 presidential bid.
The statement also included a stern warning to other individuals suspected of being internal saboteurs, urging them to align themselves with the party’s objectives or face exposure. The Labour Party remains focused on maintaining unity and advancing its political agenda despite the internal challenges and criticisms from former members….Seë _ Morë
