According to a social media post on X formerly known as Twitter,In a recent address at the Presidential Villa during his 73rd birthday celebration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shared a poignant anecdote reflecting his steadfastness in the face of adversity during the 2023 presidential campaign. His insights were conveyed through a post by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, on his official X handle.

President Tinubu recounted an experience that transpired during the height of the election season. He recalled how a close acquaintance approached him in the early hours, around 3:30 a.m., with an urgent request for financial assistance. This individual needed N50,000 to purchase foodstuffs for a family member, stating, “The currency is gone because of you. People are jumping over bank counters because there is no cash.”

Despite the challenges posed by economic conditions at that time, President Tinubu demonstrated his characteristic resilience. He chose to provide the requested funds, asserting that he would not be deterred by the discouragement offered by his friend. As he remembered the encounter, he reflected on the grim prediction made by the individual, who, after receiving the assistance, told him that he “won’t make it.” In response, President Tinubu confidently declared, “I will.”
