Nigerian lawyer and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo has stated that all the people who decided on the emergency rule in Rivers state were not from the state.
This statement was contained in a viral video that was posted on the official X handle of CHANNELS TV on Monday, September 22, 2025.
In the viral video that surfaced online from 0.52, Kenneth Okonkwo stated that people like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun are not from Rivers state.
He said it is unfortunate that the governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara and former governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike allowed non indigenes to decided the destiny of the state.
He said other states should learn from the incident that happened in Rivers state and put their house in order.

“Have you noticed that all the people who decided the destiny of Rivers state were all strangers. Tinubu from Lagos, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom, House of Representatives Speaker, Tajudeen Abass from Kaduna state, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kekere-Ekun from Lagos state, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas from Akwa Ibom.
