A close associate of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that the United States would back an Israeli military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities if diplomatic efforts fail. The statement, reported by Al-Monitor and shared by Iran International English, suggests that U.S. President Donald Trump would authorize Netanyahu to take action against Tehran.

“In this case, the gates of hell will be opened for Iran, but this time really. Trump will give Netanyahu the green light,” the Netanyahu ally was quoted as saying.

This assertion comes at a time of increasing tensions over Iran’s nuclear program, which Israel perceives as a direct threat. Netanyahu has consistently opposed Iran’s nuclear ambitions and has indicated that Israel may resort to military intervention if necessary.

The Trump administration has continued diplomatic engagements to limit Iran’s nuclear activities, but reports of a potential U.S.-Israeli military operation under Trump’s leadership introduce a new level of uncertainty. During his presidency, Trump took a firm stance against Iran, pulling the U.S. out of the 2015 nuclear agreement and imposing stringent sanctions.

Iran has repeatedly stated that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and has warned of severe retaliation if attacked. Iranian officials have emphasized that any military action against its facilities would be met with a decisive response, potentially sparking a broader regional conflict.
