The spokesperson to Former Ekiti State Governor, Ahmed Sajoh has provided detailed clarification regarding a widely circulated incident involving prominent political figures at a recent conference, disputing interpretations that suggested secretive political planning.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Sajoh offered a firsthand account of what he described as a simple act of courtesy that was subsequently misconstrued by observers and media outlets.
Sajoh explained the sequence of events that led to what some interpreted as a clandestine political meeting between key figures in Nigerian politics.
“Let me tell you what happened at that conference, Fayemi was sitting with former VP Atiku Abubakar in the front seat and Atiku asked Fayemi that where exactly are the restrooms and Fayemi being a gentleman did not want to point at the direction, no, he stood up to lead him to it because Atiku is older than him, is like a father. He gave him that courtesy,” Sajoh recounted during the Trust TV interview.
According to Sajoh’s account, the encounter that sparked speculation occurred when the two politicians were joined by a third figure at an unexpected moment.
“As they were going to the door towards the restroom, El-Rufai entered and they met at the entrance. They exchanged banters and people took pictures and said three of them were planning,” Sajoh continued, explaining how the innocent interaction was transformed into something more significant in public perception.
Sajoh’s detailed explanation appears aimed at dispelling rumors or speculation about potential political coordination between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Sajoh’s account emphasizes that what observers interpreted as a strategic political meeting was merely a coincidental encounter during a routine conference interaction, highlighting how public figures’ movements can be subject to intense scrutiny and misinterpretation.
