Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, the young House of Representatives member from Kaduna North and son of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has ignited a firestorm on social media with a fiery response to questions about his political allegiance. The controversy erupted after a user, @abdullahayofel, posted an image of Bello in the House, prompting speculation about his stance amid his father’s recent shift from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.

In a provocative tweet, Bello lashed out, stating, “Ah! You’re back. Let me make you cry again. One would think it’s good I have such options if I cared about that no? Don’t worry, I don’t care for now. I have a 2-year mandate and my people are content with my little work so far.” He further escalated the exchange, adding, “As a b*stard son of a failed father that never gave you any of such options, I grieve with you. However, it is not my fault. Na Baba mess up, Ma Binu ehn!” The remark, referencing a supposed 20K payment tied to a NASS Library visit, has fueled debates about corruption in Nigerian politics.

The outburst is said to come as Nasir El-Rufai’s move to the ADC, alongside figures like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, signals a potential 2027 election challenge to the APC, as reported by The Sun. Bello’s retort suggests a personal rift, with him declaring, “I hope that 20 K you got when you visited NASS Library to listen to people like me was not delayed and that it came sharply.”
