Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai confirmed that a meeting by the opposition coalition took place in Abuja on Tuesday.
He reportedly stated that President Bola Tinubu would be sent back to Lagos State, while his Minister, Bosun Tijani—whom he described as performing excellently—would be retained in the next administration.
According to DAILY POST, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and El-Rufai had agreed to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the official platform for their opposition coalition. It was reported that the three political figures reached the decision during a meeting held on Tuesday night.
An insider was quoted as saying that the trio had resolved to adopt the ADC as the coalition’s party and that discussions extended into the early hours of the following morning.
While he was addressing a gathering at Arewa TechFest in Katsina State on Wednesday, El-Rufai said, “Yesterday at 8 PM, there was a very important meeting of the coalition we’re putting together to ensure that President Tinubu goes back to Lagos.”
Further talking, he said, “Though we will still keep Bosun Tijani, we will still keep the minister because he is doing good work.”
