Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has questioned the political credibility of ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, following his involvement in the Atiku-backed opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
During an interview on Arise TV News, Omokri raised doubts about El-Rufai’s ability to lead or influence Nigerians, pointing to what he described as a lack of alignment within the former governor’s own family. He highlighted the visible support shown by El-Rufai’s first son at a recent event where President Bola Tinubu received public backing for a second term in office.
According to Omokri, not only was El-Rufai’s son present at the event, but he also actively and enthusiastically supported the president—despite his father’s current political stance, which is positioned against the administration.
Omokri suggested that such a visible contradiction between El-Rufai and his son reveals deeper questions about El-Rufai’s ability to unite or lead a broader national movement, particularly as part of a coalition that seeks to challenge Tinubu’s leadership in 2027.
In his own words, he remarked, “As a matter of fact, this guy, Nasir El-Rufai—his own son was at the venue where President Bola Tinubu was endorsed for a second term. And the boy was shouting enthusiastically. If you cannot convince your own first son to support you, how do you think you can convince Nigerians?”
